Alex Eala is entering the next phase of her 2026 campaign with momentum, confidence and enormous attention surrounding her every appearance.
The Filipino tennis star is competing at the Singapore Tennis Open, where she has been awarded the No. 3 seed and a first-round bye. That means her tournament begins in the round of 16, giving fans another opportunity to watch one of the fastest-rising names in women’s tennis.
Eala arrives in Singapore after a memorable US Open campaign.
She reached the third round at Flushing Meadows, following another strong hard-court stretch that included her first WTA 1000 title. Her US Open journey eventually ended against Iva Jovic in a dramatic three-set battle, but the result did little to slow the excitement surrounding the young Filipina.
Instead, the tournament reinforced the sense that Eala has entered a new stage of her career.
Her rise has also attracted international attention beyond tennis. During her time in New York, Eala made appearances at New York Fashion Week and attended the Tory Burch Spring/Summer 2027 show. The WTA noted that she was embracing fashion as another form of self-expression alongside tennis.
But now the focus returns to competition.
Singapore provides Eala with another test against experienced opposition. As the No. 3 seed, she enters with a strong position in the draw, but tennis offers no guarantees. Every opponent presents a different challenge, and Eala will need to reproduce the consistency that helped her produce some of the biggest results of her career this year.
Then comes another significant assignment.
Eala is set to represent the Philippines at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya. The event overlaps with the China Open, a mandatory WTA 1000 tournament, creating a scheduling conflict. Philippine tennis officials have requested an exemption, while Eala has maintained her intention to compete for her country.
The decision has become one of the most talked-about stories surrounding her season.
For Filipino tennis fans, however, the bigger picture is clear: Eala is continuing to make history while competing on some of the sport’s biggest stages.
Singapore is next.
