damSimona Halep’s name remains deeply connected with some of the most memorable moments in modern women’s tennis. Although her competitive career has come to an end, 2026 has given fans plenty of reasons to continue following the Romanian star.
Halep was born on September 27, 1991, in Constanța, Romania. At 34 years old in 2026, she can look back on a remarkable career that included a spell at world No. 1, 24 WTA singles titles and two Grand Slam championships. The WTA lists her height at 5 feet 6 inches (1.68 meters).
Her Grand Slam breakthrough arrived at the 2018 French Open, where she captured her first major title. One year later, she produced another unforgettable performance by winning Wimbledon. Those victories cemented her place among the leading players of her generation.
Halep officially announced her retirement from professional tennis in February 2025 after competing in Cluj-Napoca. The decision followed a difficult period affected by physical problems and the challenges of returning to her previous level.
Her official WTA record lists $40,236,618 in career prize money, making her one of the highest-earning players in women’s tennis history. Estimates of her overall net worth vary considerably because private assets, investments and endorsement arrangements are not fully public, so specific net-worth figures should be treated as estimates rather than confirmed facts.
What makes 2026 particularly interesting is how Halep’s life has evolved beyond competitive tennis. Her official website highlights a documentary series, SIMONA – Povestea unui Vis, which premiered in June 2026, as well as her involvement with the MINA Museum’s immersive experience dedicated to her journey. She has also taken on a brand-ambassador role with AnimaWings.
Her retirement may have closed one chapter, but it has not ended the public’s fascination with her story. From becoming Romania’s first woman to reach world No. 1 to winning two Grand Slam titles, Halep built a legacy that continues to attract attention.
