Emma Raducanu Comes Through Eve of Wimbledon Practice Session

There was a welcome sigh of relief for British tennis fans as Emma Raducanu successfully completed a practice session on the eve of Wimbledon, easing concerns about her fitness ahead of the prestigious Grand Slam.

The 23-year-old had become the subject of intense speculation throughout the week after reports emerged that she had been seen wearing a protective boot and had missed several scheduled practice sessions. Concerns escalated further on Saturday when Raducanu ended a training session early while practicing with Anna Kalinskaya, raising fresh doubts over whether she would be fit for her opening-round match.

However, Sunday brought much more encouraging news. Raducanu returned to the practice courts at the All England Club for an hour-long session with hitting partner Alexis Canter. Although her right leg remained strapped, she completed the workout without any obvious setbacks and appeared relaxed, smiling throughout the session. While she avoided testing her movement at full intensity, simply getting through practice represented an important step in her Wimbledon preparations.

The former US Open champion has endured a challenging journey with injuries over the past few seasons, making every positive training update especially significant. After showing promising form by reaching the final at the Queen’s Club Championships earlier this month, Raducanu looked poised to build momentum heading into Wimbledon before injury concerns threatened to derail her campaign.

Her opening-round opponent is Croatian player Antonia Ruzic, and fans will be hoping the British star is physically ready to compete at her home Grand Slam. Wimbledon has always held special meaning for Raducanu, who continues to carry the hopes of the home crowd whenever she steps onto the grass courts of the All England Club.

Despite lingering questions about her mobility, Sunday’s practice session offered a much-needed boost to both Raducanu and her supporters. The focus will now shift to how her body responds once competitive play begins, where the demands of match intensity are far greater than those of practice.

For now, optimism has replaced much of the uncertainty that surrounded her earlier in the week. If Raducanu can remain healthy, her aggressive baseline game and growing confidence on grass make her a dangerous competitor capable of producing memorable performances.

As Wimbledon gets underway, all eyes will be on the British star to see whether she can translate this encouraging practice session into a strong tournament run and reignite the form that has made her one of tennis’ most captivating talents.
