Olaniyi AyoolaThe Georgia Bulldogs have secured a major addition to their 2026 recruiting class with a commitment from Wade Register, widely regarded as the top punter prospect in the nation. The highly sought-after special teams standout chose Georgia over several major programs, including Alabama, Florida State, and Ohio State. His decision gives the Bulldogs a huge boost in an often-overlooked but critical area of the game. Register, who hails from Florida, has been dominating specialist rankings thanks to his powerful leg, pinpoint accuracy, and exceptional hang time. His consistency and ability to flip field position have made him a standout at national camps and showcases, where he’s routinely outperformed top-tier competition. Georgia’s coaching staff has prioritized elite special teams play in recent recruiting cycles, and Register’s commitment reflects that continued focus. With head coach Kirby Smart’s emphasis on field position and disciplined play, bringing in a punter of Register’s caliber could make a significant difference in close matchups down the road. Register himself praised Georgia’s culture, coaching, and facilities as major factors in his decision. He also expressed enthusiasm about playing in the SEC and developing under the guidance of Georgia’s special teams staff, who have helped shape multiple players into NFL-caliber performers. His commitment not only boosts Georgia’s national recruiting ranking but also sends a message that the Bulldogs continue to dominate in attracting top-tier talent across all positions. While punters often fly under the radar during recruiting cycles, Register’s early commitment shines a spotlight on the importance of special teams and Georgia’s commitment to excellence in every phase of the game. With Wade Register in the fold, the Bulldogs’ 2026 class just got significantly stronger—and more complete.
