Anna Kalinskaya’s Latest Tennis Story Has Fans Talking

Anna Kalinskaya has given tennis fans plenty to talk about during an eventful 2026 season, and her latest Grand Slam campaign showed once again why she remains one of the players capable of producing dramatic moments on the biggest stages.

The Russian star arrived at the US Open as the No. 21 seed and made an impressive start. After defeating Anna Blinkova in the opening round, Kalinskaya battled past Xinyu Wang in three sets before producing one of the biggest results of her tournament against Elina Svitolina.

Kalinskaya defeated the No. 9 seed 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 in the third round, reaching the second week of the US Open for the first time. The victory was particularly significant because it meant she had now reached the second week at all four Grand Slam tournaments.

But the fourth round brought another difficult challenge against Emma Navarro. Kalinskaya had previously won both of their meetings, but this time Navarro controlled the contest and secured a 6-4, 6-2 victory to advance to the quarterfinals.

Even though the US Open run ended there, it followed another memorable Grand Slam performance earlier in the year.

At Roland Garros, Kalinskaya produced one of the most dramatic wins of her season when she defeated Anastasia Potapova 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 after saving match opportunities in the deciding set. The victory sent her into her first French Open quarterfinal and marked her second Grand Slam quarterfinal overall.

Her hard-court season afterward included some difficult moments. At the Cincinnati Open, she retired during her round-of-32 match against Sorana Cirstea after losing the second set and trailing in the third.

Still, Kalinskaya’s 2026 season has featured important milestones, resilience and major wins. With her Grand Slam experience continuing to grow, attention will now turn toward her next tournaments and whether she can build on the confidence gained from her deep runs in Paris and New York.
