Celtic’s preparations for the 2026/27 campaign are beginning to gather momentum, with 21 first-team players expected to return for pre-season training as the club gears up for another busy year. With international stars still away on duty, the early arrivals will have an opportunity to impress and stake their claim for regular minutes.

Pre-season often represents more than just fitness work. For several members of the squad, it provides a chance to reset after difficult campaigns and prove they still have a future at Parkhead. Among those attracting attention is a forgotten Bhoys figure who is eager to earn a clean slate and force his way back into the manager’s plans.

Competition for places is expected to be fierce. Celtic are entering a crucial summer with important domestic and European objectives on the horizon, meaning every training session and friendly match could influence selection decisions. Players who struggled with injuries or found opportunities limited last season now have a golden opportunity to start afresh.

The timing of the squad’s return is particularly significant, with the club facing a race to finalize coaching arrangements before preparations officially get underway. Reports suggest that behind-the-scenes work is ongoing to ensure everything is in place when the players arrive.

Supporters will also be eager to see how the squad evolves during the transfer window. Discussions surrounding potential arrivals and departures continue, while several current players will hope strong performances in pre-season can convince the coaching staff that reinforcements are not required in their positions.

The upcoming friendlies will offer fans an early glimpse of what to expect in the new campaign. With a glamour encounter against AC Milan already confirmed later this summer, excitement is beginning to build among the Celtic faithful.

For the players returning this week, however, the focus remains simple: work hard, impress the manager, and seize the opportunity that pre-season always brings. Football careers can change quickly, and for some forgotten names within the squad, the coming weeks could represent the perfect chance to write a new chapter.

As Celtic embark on another season filled with expectation, all eyes will be on Lennoxtown to see which stars shine brightest and which players can successfully turn the page on the past.
