MusaLeeds Fans Celebrate Present Success While Remembering a Past Cult Hero
As Leeds United push for a historic 100-point season today, fans are soaking up a moment that would have seemed unimaginable a decade ago. Back then, Elland Road was a far cry from its current vibrancy—half-empty stands, turbulent ownership, and a squad struggling to find consistency. Yet, even in those darker days, a few players shone through—one of them being Italian striker Mirco Antenucci.
A Brief But Memorable Leeds Stint
Signed during Massimo Cellino’s era of Italian imports, Antenucci spent just two seasons at Leeds (2014-16), netting 19 goals in a struggling side. While not a club legend, he became a cult figure—so much so that he tattooed the Leeds fan chant “Fear the Beard” on his arm as a permanent tribute.
Now 40, Antenucci has officially retired after his final stint with Serie C side SPAL, who honored him with a special farewell gift—a custom shirt featuring all his former clubs, including Leeds United.
