Nuno Espirito Santo will be hoping for some last-minute positive updates on injuries as his team heads to the City Ground, with Nottingham Forest dealing with a few fitness concerns.
Chris Wood and Morgan Gibbs-White are facing late assessments before Saturday’s game, as both are dealing with injury issues. However, with Wood in great form, Forest are eager to see the New Zealand international ready for the match.
James Ward-Prowse, however, will miss the game against West Ham, his parent club, while Forest will have the chance to face one of their former players, Michail Antonio.
Michail Antonio Shares Thoughts on Nottingham Forest Fans
Antonio left the City Ground in 2015 for West Ham after a strong 2014/15 season with Forest, scoring 19 goals and providing 15 assists in 54 appearances. Forest had reportedly considered re-signing Antonio over the summer as they searched for a striker.
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of Saturday’s match, Antonio had high praise for the Forest fans and reflected positively on his time there. “Unbelievable! It was an unbelievable year. I enjoyed every minute of it,” he said. “The fans there were unbelievable as well. I always enjoy going back to the City Ground, and I loved every moment of being at the club.”
On Whether Antonio Would Celebrate a Goal Against Forest
Although Antonio holds the record as West Ham’s top scorer in Premier League history, he has struggled with form this season, scoring only once in his first 10 appearances. He has started eight times in the league, making him likely to start again on Saturday.
Antonio also told Sky Sports that, out of respect for Forest, he would not celebrate if he scored. “I’ll never celebrate against them. The year I had there helped shape me as the player I am today, so I’ve always respected the club, and even though it’s been 10 years, I wouldn’t celebrate against them.”
