After evaluating several options, Leeds United identified seven-time French international Guilavogui as the ideal player to reinforce their midfield. Known as a Bundesliga icon, Guilavogui most recently played for Mainz but made a name for himself with 250 appearances as captain for VfL Wolfsburg. He also had experience with La Liga powerhouse Atletico Madrid.

Leeds turned to the free-agent market following injuries to key players Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev, whose long-term absences left manager Daniel Farke with a significant challenge. In their absence, Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell have performed admirably, leading Leeds to victories over Sheffield United and Watford. However, the relentless Championship schedule highlighted the need for added depth.

As a result, Leeds signed Guilavogui on a deal reportedly worth around £1 million (£20,000 per week).

Additionally, reports suggest that former Huddersfield player O’Brien is unlikely to be part of Nottingham Forest’s future plans after his loan ends. Southampton, struggling in the Premier League, are also interested in O’Brien as they look to bolster their midfield for the season’s second half.

O’Brien has been in strong form in the U.S. with LAFC, making 15 appearances, scoring a goal, and providing an assist. His efforts were instrumental in LAFC clinching the top spot in the MLS Western Conference and securing a playoff berth.

The 26-year-old joined LAFC on loan in July, a deal that lasts until December when the MLS season ends. LAFC holds an option to make his move permanent.
