WOW: Sunderland might see HUGE reunion with 2022 signing who is ready for Stadium of Light trip despite leaving without saying GOODBYE.

According to French outlet L’Équipe, 21-year-old Edouard Michut has several options, with Serbian club Red Star Belgrade making an offer earlier in September.

Michut showcased his potential during his loan spell at Sunderland

On the 2022 deadline day, Sunderland secured Michut on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain, along with Amad Diallo and Abdoullah Ba. Despite making eight first-team appearances for PSG, Michut needed regular playing time to develop further.

His start at Sunderland was hindered by a leg injury that kept him out for several games early in the season. After regaining match fitness, he suffered another setback, playing only 66 minutes across four league matches. However, during the second half of the season, Michut found his stride and demonstrated why he had been part of one of football’s top academies.

Teaming up with Dan Neil in central midfield, Michut displayed his technical skills and, despite his smaller frame, held his own against physically imposing Championship opponents. He played a key role in Sunderland’s late push for promotion, helping the team finish sixth before falling to Luton Town in the play-off semi-finals. By the end of the season, Michut had made 28 appearances across all competitions.

L’Équipe reported that Sunderland explored the possibility of signing Michut permanently, but the midfielder ultimately joined Adana Demirspor on loan instead.

Edouard Michut now a free agent

After spending just over a season at Adana Demirspor, Michut is now a free agent. According to RMC Sport, the Frenchman left the Turkish club due to unpaid wages.

Michut’s time in Turkey started similarly to his Sunderland stint, as he missed the beginning of the season while building match fitness. However, he became a regular starter for Adana Demirspor as the campaign progressed, making 25 appearances in all competitions.

He made two league appearances in the 2024/25 season before departing the club.

Given Michut’s experience across Europe at just 21, he is unlikely to remain without a club for long. During his time in England, he showcased his technical abilities, and he was a regular in the competitive Turkish Süper Lig. While Red Star Belgrade reportedly made an offer for him earlier in September, Michut remains without a team, and his next move will be closely watched.

Whoever signs Michut will acquire a talented young player with a bright future ahead. Having made an impact at Sunderland and gained further experience in Turkey, the former PSG academy product is poised for his next challenge. At just 21, Michut’s best years are still to come.
