“He is very famous” Regis Le Bris make super Plymouth Headcoach recognition verdict but won’t stop him from taking the bull by its HORN.
While Pierre Le Bris was relatively unknown in England before becoming Sunderland’s manager in the summer, the same can’t be said for Wayne Rooney, who held the title of England’s all-time top scorer until surpassed by Harry Kane.
Rooney had an illustrious playing career, but his managerial journey has been less smooth, with challenging stints at Derby County, DC United, and Birmingham City before taking over as Plymouth manager in May. He has yet to secure his first league win with the Pilgrims, but his reputation as a footballing legend has Le Bris eager to face him in tomorrow’s match.
In England, it’s a common tradition for managers to meet after games, often sharing a drink, though this practice is becoming less frequent. Le Bris is keen to uphold it.
“I enjoy doing that,” said the Sunderland manager. “We’ve had one or two games this season where I’ve been able to, although not in all of them. For me, it’s a good tradition.”
Le Bris is looking forward to the chance to meet Rooney, who remains a prominent figure in English football.
“Wayne is very well-known,” said Le Bris. “He’s famous both as a player and now as a coach. It’s always interesting to meet someone like that. While it’s the players who will decide the outcome on the pitch, it’s still fascinating for me to learn about this league and meet people like Wayne Rooney.”
Meanwhile, Sunderland captain Dan Neil is available for tomorrow’s match after missing the 3-1 win over Portsmouth due to suspension and is expected to return to the starting lineup.
