Playing as the top seed in Cluj-Napoca, Raducanu delivered a ruthless performance that mirrored the aggressive form she has shown throughout the week. She raced through a flawless first set in just 34 minutes, utilizing a high first-serve percentage (80%) and powerful groundstrokes that left Chwalińska with few answers. While the second set was more competitive as the Polish qualifier found her footing, Raducanu remained composed, converting crucial breakpoints to close out the match in 79 minutes.

This victory follows an extraordinary round-of-16 performance yesterday, where Raducanu overturned a 5-0 first-set deficit against Kaja Juvan. By winning 11 consecutive games in that match, Raducanu reached the quarter-finals on a wave of momentum. Her current run in Romania marks the first time she has won three consecutive matches since August 2025, signaling a significant turning point in her 2026 season.

Raducanu’s success this week comes just days after she announced a split with coach Francisco Roig following an early exit at the Australian Open. Competing without a primary coach, she has appeared more liberated on the court, frequently noting that she is playing “on her own terms”. The indoor hard courts in Cluj-Napoca—the hometown of her father—have historically suited her flat-hitting style, and she has yet to drop a set this tournament.

With her ranking currently projected to rise back inside the world’s Top 30, Raducanu is now two wins away from her first WTA title since her historic 2021 US Open triumph. She will face either Wang Xinyu or Anastasia Potapova in the semi-finals tomorrow.
