The centre-back has already faced challenges this year with a calf injury, having returned late to pre-season training due to his participation in the European Championships over the summer.
According to Austrian outlet Kronen Zeitung, the 26-year-old has now sustained a knee injury while on international duty.
Wober featured in the 1-1 draw against Slovenia earlier this month after joining Ralf Rangnick’s squad, despite limited appearances for Leeds so far this season. However, he was excluded from the squad for the match against Norway in Oslo on Monday evening, with Austrian media attributing his absence to a knee issue.
Daniel Farke is expected to hold his pre-match press conference on Thursday as Leeds prepare to face Burnley at Elland Road this weekend. Up to now, Wober has been one of the few injury concerns Farke has had to manage. Even without this latest injury, it was unlikely the Austrian would have started against Burnley, as Pascal Struijk and Joe Rodon have secured three consecutive clean sheets in Wober’s position.
During the international break, Wober addressed this situation in an interview with Austrian media, stating that he had no intention of leaving Leeds this summer and is prepared to be patient for his chance to return to the starting lineup.
“If we keep succeeding and nothing changes, I wouldn’t make many adjustments as a coach. So, I just have to be patient and wait for my opportunity,” he told Sky Sport Austria.
“I’m happy at Leeds, it’s a great fit for me. I never said I wanted to leave. I accepted the challenge, but I understand it won’t be easy to regain my previous position,” he added.
