JUST IN: Alan Shearer brutally slams the BLACK CATS fans embarrassment revealing “I can’t even lift my head up”
After attending a friend’s wedding in Italy, Alan Shearer and his family were supposed to fly back to their hometown, but a flight cancellation redirected them to Heathrow, forcing them to take a train back north. Unfortunately for Shearer, this coincided with Sunderland fans returning from their 3-1 Championship win at Portsmouth. Earlier this week, Shearer admitted he was “petrified” during the four-hour journey, keeping his head down the entire time.
Micah Richards, Shearer’s fellow pundit, playfully teased him about the incident during the latest episode of The Rest Is Football podcast. Richards joked, “How funny is it though? You always talk big about Sunderland, but when you were on the train, you were hiding like a little weasel.”
Shearer laughed along, with host Gary Lineker adding to the banter by saying, “Do you know what’s worse, Micah? He sneaked to the loo and put a Sunderland shirt on.”
Shearer, still amused, confirmed how tense he was: “I was absolutely desperate for the loo, but I couldn’t move. I was scared to go to the loo.” Fortunately, his ordeal ended on a positive note when he got to see his beloved Newcastle United secure a 2-1 victory against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Reflecting on the experience, Shearer shared how unnerving it was, recalling, “Gary, Micah, I had an absolute disaster. I sat there thinking you two would love this. We weren’t in first class, just in coach, and I realized, ‘Oh my f***ing god,’ Sunderland had played Portsmouth away. I had my cap on, wedged in the corner, and the train was packed with Sunderland fans, all in high spirits with their bottles of beer.
“Within half an hour, I couldn’t even lift my head up. They started singing Newcastle songs, then Shearer songs—’Shearer, Alan Shearer, oh what can it mean to a sad Geordie…’ I can’t even repeat some of the other songs they were singing. My neck was killing me from keeping my head down. I was petrified getting off the train, and somehow, not one person recognized me.
“I didn’t move for four hours and never got spotted. They just sang and abused me the whole time. So, to all you Sunderland fans on Coach C, f*** you, I could hear you all.”
Sunderland, currently aiming to join their arch-rivals Newcastle in the Premier League, are off to a strong start in the Championship, topping the table after maintaining a perfect record in their first four games of the season.
