JUST IN: New Anthony Gordon St. James Park future Twist as the Gunners reveal high interest and willingness to break bank to clinch Magpies Ace signature few hours to Window Closure.

The Gunners have made only two outfield signings so far this transfer window, bringing in Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino.

As the transfer deadline approaches, Arsenal is looking to add a new winger to their squad. Recent reports suggested that Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling could be a potential target.

However, Hope now reports that Arsenal has shown interest in Anthony Gordon. Despite this, the 23-year-old is unlikely to leave Newcastle United before the deadline.

The Liverpool-born winger is content at Newcastle, and preliminary discussions for an improved contract are expected to take place after the transfer window closes.

Nevertheless, Arsenal’s sporting director, Edu Gaspar, remains a strong admirer of Gordon, and the club may revisit their interest next summer.

Arsenal views Gordon as a potential future forward target
Gordon joined Newcastle from Everton in January last year. In the second half of the 2022/23 season, he scored just one goal in 16 appearances.

However, last season he was a revelation, scoring 12 goals and providing 11 assists in 48 appearances. Of these, 21 goal contributions came in the Premier League across 35 games.

Gordon has established himself as Newcastle’s first-choice left winger, but he has also shown he can play on the right, adding to his versatility.

This flexibility might explain Arsenal’s late interest, but with little time left to find a quality replacement, Newcastle is unlikely to let him go.

Similar to Nico Williams, Arsenal is unlikely to secure a deal for Gordon, who is valued at £51 million by Transfermarkt. However, he could remain a key target for the future.

If Gordon continues to impress with Newcastle for another season, Arsenal might make a serious bid for him in the next summer transfer window.
