JUST IN: Leeds highly rate Austria midfielder with perfect defense line breaking passes alongside Manor Solomon.
According to a report on page 90 of the newspaper dated 25 August, Leeds United have shifted their focus to FC Koln midfielder Dejan Ljubicic as they near the completion of a loan deal for Israeli winger Manor Solomon from Tottenham.
Ljubicic, 26, could become Leeds’ seventh signing of the summer if the Solomon deal goes through as expected.
Leeds United target Dejan Ljubicic
Leeds have been keeping an eye on Ljubicic in recent weeks and may soon make a move, with his current club reportedly asking for around £6.8 million [Bild, 7 August].
The seven-cap Austria international is interested in a move to the Premier League after spending three years at Cologne, where he made 92 appearances. Cologne was recently relegated to the second division in Germany after five seasons in the Bundesliga, and Ljubicic has reportedly caused friction with his agent, who dropped him after his entourage tried to force a move [Bild, 23 August].
Leeds’ initial offer, said to be about half of Cologne’s asking price, was rejected last week [Kicker, 18 August].
Leeds manager Daniel Farke is still actively seeking additional midfield options, as his current squad has only Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev, and Joe Rothwell as experienced central midfielders.
