“For me, I like him alot” Le Bris reveal Academy of Light rising star already won his heart so FAR as youngster is bound to be Sunderland big thing in coming years.
Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris has expressed his admiration for young player Zak Johnson, hinting at a promising future for the defender at the club.
Johnson made his senior debut for Sunderland in a 2-0 EFL Cup loss to Preston, playing out of his usual position at full back. Despite some criticism of his performance, Le Bris remains impressed with Johnson since his return from a loan spell at Dundalk.
Le Bris acknowledged that centre-back is Johnson’s primary position but praised his eagerness to learn and his full commitment. The manager noted the strong competition for this position at the club and suggested a loan move might be considered for Johnson’s development.
Johnson himself has previously expressed his desire for more playing time, ultimately aiming to establish himself in Sunderland’s first team. He emphasized his readiness to prove himself as a reliable player for the manager, regardless of his age.
In the recent match, Johnson was selected to play right back over Timothee Pembele, who was unexpectedly left out of the squad. Le Bris clarified that while Pembele isn’t close to a loan move, the club is exploring loan possibilities for him.
