NOT GIVING UP: The Magpies and Eddie Howe still on for the Transfer chase of Former Man City star boy who was a total phenomenon under PEP as Club make upgraded offer to make St. James Park move possible.
Newcastle United, under Eddie Howe’s management, has been active in the current transfer window. Despite making several additions to their squad, they’re still looking to strengthen as the window’s end approaches.
The club is seeking to bolster their attack and has shown interest in Ferran Torres. Reports from Fichajes suggest that Barcelona rejected Newcastle’s initial offer of €15 million plus add-ons for the Spanish international. However, Newcastle remains undeterred and may submit an improved bid soon.
Barcelona acquired Torres from Manchester City in January 2022 for €55 million. While he has performed adequately, the former Valencia player hasn’t secured a consistent starting position. With three years remaining on his contract, Torres doesn’t appear to be in Hansi Flick’s future plans, leading Barcelona to consider selling the 24-year-old winger.
Given their financial constraints, Barcelona views Torres’ potential sale as an opportunity to generate funds for reinvestment. They’ve set an asking price of €30 million, hoping to recoup a portion of their initial investment.
Newcastle had considered pursuing Raphinha but sees Torres as a more cost-effective option who can play various attacking positions. His versatility could provide depth on the wings and support for striker Alexander Isak. Despite the rejection of their initial offer, Newcastle is expected to continue their pursuit of Torres before the transfer window closes.
