“I’ve kept in touch with him” Sunderland Teammate give SHOCKING lan Poveda verdict as they both reunite in Stadium of Light…. Sunderland must have SIGN what has been missing in the club in this dude.
Newly acquired Sunderland player Ian Poveda has prior connections with some of his current teammates, who have shared their thoughts on what the winger will bring to the team.
Poveda, 24, has an extensive youth career, having played for Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City before joining Leeds in 2020. He also gained experience through loan spells at Blackburn, Blackpool, and Sheffield Wednesday.
Sunderland defender Dan Ballard, who played alongside Poveda in Arsenal’s youth setup, praised him as a great person who made his early Arsenal days enjoyable. Ballard highlighted Poveda’s direct playing style and ability to challenge defenders, predicting that Sunderland fans will appreciate his exciting approach.
Poveda’s three-year contract with Sunderland includes an option for an additional year. He joins the Black Cats following the expiration of his Leeds contract in June. During his time at Leeds, Poveda played with Leo Hjelde and Niall Huggins, both of whom are now his teammates at Sunderland.
Hjelde described Poveda as an exciting player with excellent ball control, particularly in tight spaces. He also commended Poveda’s strong work ethic and constant drive for self-improvement, noting that his technical skills combine with his hard-working nature to create a well-rounded player.
Huggins recalled Poveda from their time together at Leeds, emphasizing his quick footwork, agility, and ability to trouble defenders. He also noted Poveda’s dedication in training and goal-scoring ambition, expressing optimism about the quality Poveda brings to Sunderland for the upcoming season.
