Crystal Palace Steps Up Pursuit of Ismaila Sarr

Crystal Palace has increased their offer for Senegalese international Ismaila Sarr to €15 million (£12.6 million), according to Fabrizio Romano. This follows an initial rejected bid from Marseille. The Eagles have also reportedly agreed to personal terms with Sarr, whose No.23 shirt at Marseille has already been reassigned.

The London club’s renewed interest in Sarr is driven by specific qualities they believe he can bring to Selhurst Park:

1. Attacking Depth: Palace values Sarr’s ability to run behind opposition defenses, a skill Sporting Director Dougie Freedman considers crucial for strengthening Oliver Glasner’s attack.

2. Versatility: Sarr’s experience playing across the frontline (51 appearances on the left, 41 as a central striker, and 150 on the right) appeals to Palace, potentially filling the void left by Michael Olise on the right wing.

3. Youthful Energy: At 26, Sarr represents a younger option compared to aging squad members like Jeffrey Schlupp (31) and Jordan Ayew (32), allowing Palace to refresh their attacking options.

4. Value for Money: With the total price expected to be around £14 million, Palace views Sarr as an affordable way to enhance their squad depth alongside emerging talent Matheus Franca.

If the deal goes through, Sarr would join a revamped attack supporting key players Ebere Eze and Jean-Philippe Mateta, potentially providing Palace with more dynamic offensive options for the upcoming season.
