Sunderland’s Pursuit of Caen Striker Alexandre Mendy
Sunderland FC has reportedly made an initial offer of approximately £800,000 for Caen striker Alexandre Mendy, which was rejected. The Black Cats are seeking to bolster their attacking options after last season’s loan signings and new acquisitions struggled to score consistently. Mendy, who netted 22 goals in 37 appearances for Caen in France’s second tier, is a prime target for Sunderland as they prepare for Regis Le Bris’ first season as manager.
Despite the initial rejection, Sunderland’s interest in Mendy persists. The striker, who has seven caps for Guinea-Bissau, is said to prefer a move to Sunderland over Saudi Arabian club Al Riyadh. Caen’s head coach, Nicolas Seube, acknowledged the ongoing transfer discussions, noting that the club aims to secure a satisfactory financial return for Mendy’s potential sale.
Leeds United Eyes PEC Zwolle Defender
Leeds United has reportedly initiated contact with Dutch club PEC Zwolle regarding left-back Anselmo Garcia. The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, who previously spent time in the youth systems of Real Betis and Wolfsburg, joined Zwolle last summer and made 32 appearances in the recent season.
Leeds’ interest in Garcia comes as current left-back Junior Firpo is rumored to be in talks with Real Betis.
