Crystal Palace intend to SIGN Rightfooted Championship wizard as Michael Olise replacement.
Recent reports suggest Crystal Palace is eyeing potential replacements for their star winger, who is expected to join Bayern Munich. The club is considering Championship options, including Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto and Sunderland’s Jack Clarke.
Gnonto’s future at Leeds remains uncertain. While the club has reopened contract talks with the 23-year-old Italian, no agreement has been reached. Leeds is firm on their £30 million valuation of Gnonto, a price they quoted to Everton last summer.
Crystal Palace faces a significant challenge in replacing Michael Olise, who contributed 10 goals and 6 assists in just 19 Premier League appearances last season. If Olise’s transfer to Bayern materializes, Palace could potentially afford Gnonto with the proceeds.
Gnonto had an impressive Championship season, scoring 8 goals and providing 2 assists after a surprising return to the Leeds squad. His teammate, Crysencio Summerville, has also been linked with a move to Selhurst Park.
Despite initial tensions with Leeds management, including a transfer request and brief refusal to play, Gnonto apologized and became a key player in the team’s attack. He eventually replaced Dan James on the right wing, despite James having his best season to date.
Losing Gnonto would be a significant setback for Leeds, as would the departure of other key players like Summerville, Georginio Rutter, and Archie Gray. However, with Leeds facing another season in the Championship, interest from Premier League and European clubs in their top players is expected during the summer transfer window.
