Amanda Anisimova offers her opinion on Emma Raducanu as a tennis player after knocking her out of the Canadian Open

Following her straight-sets victory over Emma Raducanu at the Canadian Open 2025, American star Amanda Anisimova shared her thoughts on the British sensation, offering a mix of praise and professional insight. The second-round match, filled with intensity and anticipation, saw Anisimova play some of her best tennis to eliminate Raducanu in just under 90 minutes.

Speaking in her post-match press conference, Anisimova was respectful and complimentary. “Emma is a really talented player,” she said. “She’s got a great baseline game, moves well, and has that calm under pressure you don’t always see in young players. It was definitely not an easy match.”

Anisimova, who has been quietly climbing back up the WTA rankings, also acknowledged that Raducanu has had a lot to handle since her breakout win at the 2021 US Open. “She’s been under a lot of pressure from the start of her career,” Anisimova said. “That’s not easy for anyone, and I think she’s handled it better than most people realize.”

The American added that Raducanu’s skill level and court intelligence remain impressive. “Her timing is great. She anticipates shots well and plays very clean tennis when she’s in rhythm.”

Despite Raducanu’s early exit from the Canadian Open, Anisimova expressed confidence that the Brit would bounce back. “She has the talent. Sometimes it’s just about getting matches under your belt and staying healthy. She’s definitely someone I expect to be around for a long time.”

Amanda Anisimova’s comments come as a sign of mutual respect between two young stars of the WTA Tour. While Anisimova moves on to the third round in Montreal, Raducanu will regroup and refocus as the US Open approaches.
