JUST IN: Zero Goals contribution in seven games for The Eagles  as pitiful Palace fans bemourn Nketiah deal over Top notch Ligue striker closer to Selhurst Park trip as Player keeps scoring for fun this season…. Would have been more than a perfect Olise replacement .

Crystal Palace’s £25 million summer signing from Arsenal, Eddie Nketiah, has yet to deliver a goal or assist in his seven Premier League appearances for the club in the 2024/25 season.

To be fair to the England international, Oliver Glasner’s attacking setup has lacked fluidity, with the Eagles managing only eight goals in ten league matches so far.

Beyond his goal drought, Nketiah frustrated Palace supporters with erratic passing in Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Wolves, where one misstep allowed the opposition to equalize at 1-1.

Adding to the frustration, a forward Crystal Palace had initially targeted before signing Nketiah has been excelling elsewhere.

Hugo Ekitike impresses as Nketiah falters at Crystal Palace
In August 2023, Crystal Palace attempted to sign Hugo Ekitike from PSG, with Sporting Director Dougie Freedman proposing a loan with an option to buy. PSG declined, and Ekitike eventually joined Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2024 under a similar arrangement, allowing the German side to secure a purchase option.

Ekitike scored four goals and registered two assists in 14 Bundesliga games for Glasner’s former team, prompting Frankfurt to activate their €16.5 million (£13.9 million) option—a considerable bargain compared to PSG’s £30 million investment from 2022.

Now, that looks like a steal for Eintracht Frankfurt, with the French U21 striker tallying eight goals and four assists in just 13 appearances across all competitions this season.

Dougie Freedman may bring more competition for Eddie Nketiah at Crystal Palace
Nketiah is currently struggling to keep pace with Jean-Philippe Mateta, who has netted five goals and provided one assist in 13 matches this season. Palace’s No.9 might soon face additional competition for his place in the lineup.

Nketiah must improve his form quickly, or he could find himself further down the pecking order.
