JUST IN: £80m pricetag ready to be triggered as Arteta reveal High interest and readiness to include Leandro Trossard in order to SIGN West Ham outcast desperately looking for a new green pasture.
According to the *Mirror*, Arsenal are ready to make a significant offer for West Ham United winger Mohammed Kudus in January, with Leandro Trossard likely to be on his way out.
The Gunners have had a rocky start to the Premier League season and currently sit 5th with 18 points, trailing league leaders Liverpool by seven points.
The team has struggled for sharpness in the final third, especially in away games, and manager Mikel Arteta may seek a new attacking option in the January transfer window.
Arsenal could offset some of the costs with Trossard’s exit, as Al-Ittihad is reportedly prepared to spend £40 million on the Belgian, after an attempt to sign him on loan last summer didn’t go through.
Unexpected Move
Since early September, Arsenal have missed Martin Odegaard’s creativity, and his absence has been noticeable in recent matches. Although the Norwegian playmaker is expected to return soon, Arteta may still want to add more quality to his attacking options, and Kudus could be a valuable signing. Arsenal had previously considered him before he joined West Ham for £40 million last year.
The 24-year-old has performed respectably, with 23 goal contributions in 55 games. While primarily a right winger, Kudus has also been effective as a striker, central midfielder, and number 10. He can play on the left wing as well, a versatility that aligns with Arteta’s preference for adaptable forwards. Still, it would be surprising if Arsenal were to spend £90 million on him in January.
Arsenal has made some big winter signings in the past, like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Odegaard (initially on loan). Securing Kudus might depend on the sale of Trossard for the proposed fee.
That said, Kudus may not be worth the reported price. Arsenal should avoid paying over £60 million for the versatile player, who reportedly feels frustrated by West Ham’s lack of progress.
