Would be a very tempting January Transfer window as PL club set to lock horns in Transfer battle to SIGN Sunderland GEM.. It’s going to be a difficult task for the Black Cats to drift away from potential Exist.
Premier League clubs are reportedly eyeing two of Sunderland’s standout players.
Manchester United and Chelsea have shown interest in Sunderland’s 17-year-old sensation, Chris Rigg, following his impressive start to the 2024-25 season. Sunderland currently sits atop the Championship, leading by five points after 12 games.
The Black Cats are in a strong position to fend off bids for Rigg in January or summer, as the young attacking midfielder signed a three-year professional contract with the club in the off-season—a key move for coach Régis Le Bris. Rigg’s recent goalscoring performances against Middlesbrough and Luton Town have only fueled speculation about Premier League interest, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Brighton, Arsenal, and Wolverhampton Wanderers all reportedly tracking him, according to CaughtOffside.
The report suggests Sunderland values Rigg between £25 million and £30 million. Rigg has been a constant presence for Sunderland, appearing in all of their league and cup games this season, tallying 13 appearances and three goals.
Additionally, Arsenal reportedly sent scouts to watch Rigg against Luton Town and are also interested in Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson, who has attracted transfer interest in recent windows. However, with Patterson under contract until 2028, Sunderland remains under no obligation to sell unless a substantial offer is made.
