Oh No: “We miss you Roy Hogdson” Olivier Glasner now at the receiving end on Crystal Palace below par performance as frustrated club owner mooted ready to appoint former Brighton and Chelsea coach already shortlisted among candidiate to replace Glasner.
Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter has emerged as a possible candidate for the Crystal Palace job if the club decides to part ways with Oliver Glasner, according to reports. Glasner is under increasing pressure as Palace have yet to secure a win this season.
Palace recently suffered a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, which left them in 18th place in the Premier League. With three draws and five losses, they sit just above Wolves and Southampton. Glasner’s future is expected to be decided over the next four games leading up to the November international break, similar to Erik ten Hag’s situation at Manchester United before the last break. Palace’s upcoming fixtures include Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Wolves, and Fulham, and if results don’t improve, Glasner could face dismissal.
According to **The Guardian**, Graham Potter, who managed Brighton and Chelsea, is a strong candidate to replace Glasner if he is sacked. Potter has been out of work since being let go by Chelsea in April 2023. He had previously been in talks with Palace earlier in the year when Roy Hodgson stepped down, but the club’s chairman, Steve Parish, opted for Glasner at that time.
**Other Potential Candidates**
Potter isn’t the only name linked with the job. Former West Ham and Everton manager David Moyes is also being considered. Moyes has been out of a job since leaving West Ham last season after two stints over six years at the club.
Additionally, former England manager Gareth Southgate is another potential candidate. Southgate, who captained Crystal Palace and made over 150 appearances for the club in the late 1980s and early 1990s, stepped down as England manager after their Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain. He has since been replaced by Thomas Tuchel. Southgate previously managed Middlesbrough from 2006 to 2009, winning 45 out of 151 games during his time there.
**Glasner’s Response to Crystal Palace’s Struggles**
Following the 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest, Oliver Glasner addressed the growing concerns over his position, emphasizing the team’s unity. “It’s tough at the moment, but the players have character and are working hard. Yes, it’s disappointing, but nobody is blaming anyone. The chemistry in the dressing room is good,” Glasner said.
He added, “We need confidence, and to get that, we need to score goals. We will work hard to achieve that, to get the goals and the win. Now is the time to support the players, not to criticize them.”
