REPORT: Daniel Farke willing to take BIG risk by starting 26yr Old long forgotten flop midfielder against Cardiff following recent injury setback of KEY player.

The 26-year-old Japanese international has made only two substitute appearances, against Hull City and Burnley, since his last-minute transfer to Leeds United from Fortuna Düsseldorf.

Tanaka adds a fresh element to the midfield, with his creativity standing out compared to his new teammates. Combined with his solid defensive instincts, he could be the key for Leeds to unlock Cardiff’s defense.

Will Ao Tanaka make his first start for Leeds?
While the final decision rests with manager Daniel Farke, there’s growing speculation about how the German coach should set up his squad for a much-needed win against Cardiff. Journalist Graham Smyth believes Tanaka is poised for his first start.

“Say, for instance, Rodon doesn’t play, it brings Tanaka in because Ampadu drops back, Gruev plays as the No.6, and Tanaka as the No.8,” Smyth said on the *Inside Elland Road* podcast (via MOT Leeds News).

“I almost think this is the right moment to introduce Tanaka. Farke is known for his patience — we saw it with Gruev last season — but Cardiff are a team struggling right now.

“They’re trying to play out from the back, not parking the bus. They’re leaking goals and have only scored once. You don’t need two No.6s in this match, and Tanaka offers a bit more going forward.

“From what I’ve seen, he’s a nuisance who can win the ball when out of possession, but it’s his work on the ball that sets him apart from Gruev. This might be the perfect chance to give him a start.”

Tanaka spent the past four years at Fortuna Düsseldorf, where he made 95 appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing eight assists. If he starts, it could be his opportunity to secure a spot in the starting lineup.

Should Tanaka play against Cardiff City, many would expect him to become a regular starter soon after.
