“Too early to assess” Regis Le Bris reveal HUGE Sunderland problem aside Plymouth defeat that might affect the Black Cats League title contention on the Long run.

Sunderland faces a significant injury concern after Dan Ballard was stretchered off during their 3-2 defeat to Plymouth Argyle. Ballard, who had been pushed forward after Joe Edwards scored for Plymouth in stoppage time, appeared to land awkwardly while contesting a header in the dying moments of the game.

The central defender, who missed much of pre-season due to surgery, required the assistance of two physios to exit the field. Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris said in his post-match comments that it was too early to determine the severity of the injury. However, Ballard was seen leaving Home Park on crutches with his foot in a brace.

This adds to Sunderland’s injury woes, as Aji Alese is already sidelined for around ten weeks with an ankle injury. Meanwhile, deadline-day signing Chris Mepham was named on the bench for the first time on Saturday.
