GREAT LOSS: ELLAND ROAD set to receive a heartbreaking atmosphere on Saturday after the demise of…….
The club has issued a statement confirming the passing of young supporter Bob, who lost his battle with cancer. Bob became well-known to fans after Leeds shared a touching video of his visit to Thorp Arch, where he met the team. During his visit, Bob held his own press conference, spoke with Daniel James, expressed his admiration for manager Daniel Farke, and met his favorite player, Illan Meslier, whom he had walked out with at Elland Road for the pre-season match against Valencia. Bob even returned to the media room to greet the local press and suggest a question for Farke.
Leeds United will honor Bob with a minute of applause in the sixth minute of their match against Burnley this Saturday at Elland Road, asking fans to pay tribute to the young fan.
The club’s statement read: *“Everyone at Leeds United was truly heartbroken to learn of the passing of young supporter Bob. While bravely battling cancer, Bob’s heartwarming smile and infectious laugh were incredibly inspiring. The six-year-old met the first team and spent time with his heroes, proudly walking out with the team ahead of our pre-season friendly with Valencia CF, alongside his favorite player, Illan Meslier.*
*“Bob and his family were later invited to Thorp Arch for a behind-the-scenes tour, where he spent more time with the players and Daniel Farke. Bob’s courage and joy, despite his fight, touched the hearts of everyone at the club. We encourage supporters to join in a minute’s applause during the sixth minute of Saturday’s match against Burnley to celebrate the life of this true inspiration and cherished member of the Leeds United family. RIP Bob, you will always have a place in our hearts.”*
