“You can’t beat having someone that’s going to get you 20 goals a season” Pundit blast Leeds United dependency on Piroe and Bam ford revealing Top Striker Leeds must SIGN to make Automatic PL promotion next season

“Deadwoods upfront” Pundit blast Leeds United dependency on Piroe and Bam ford revealing Top Striker Leeds must SIGN to make Automatic PL promotion next season.

Leeds United were reportedly in search of an attacker before the transfer window closed, following the departures of Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter. The duo had contributed a combined total of 49 goals and assists for the club last season.

However, Leeds finished the transfer window without adding an extra forward, leaving Joel Piroe, Mateo Joseph, and Patrick Bamford as the only senior strikers available. Joe Gelhardt, who had been out of favor and was reportedly looking for a move away, remained at the club after failing to secure a transfer.

### Can Patrick Bamford Lead Leeds This Season?
Bamford managed just four goals in 28 Championship appearances last season and was often used as a substitute when the team needed extra firepower. With the departures of key players, Leeds may once again rely on Bamford. However, former player Frank McAvennie doubts Bamford’s ability to be a consistent goalscorer this season.

Speaking to *Football Insider*, McAvennie said: “I would have liked them to bring in a top striker. You can’t beat having someone who’s going to get you 20 goals a season, that’s what Bamford did a couple of years ago.

“He’s been their man for ages, but can he still do that? From what I’ve seen of Patrick, I don’t think so, unless he steps up. He’s not shown me that he can score 20 goals this year. If he can or they bring someone in who can, Leeds will be in the Premier League next year.”

The 31-year-old striker has not reached 20 goals in all competitions in any of the last five seasons.

### Is Leeds United’s Attacking Depth Enough This Season?
Leeds brought in Largie Ramazani and Manor Solomon, which helped cushion the blow of losing Rutter and Summerville. However, there is a sense around Elland Road that another forward was still needed.

Leeds were reportedly unable to finalize a deal for SC Freiburg’s Roland Sallai on deadline day, and a potential move for Burnley winger Manuel Benson also fell through.

While Bamford has already featured this season, Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph have stepped up so far. Both were on the scoresheet in Leeds’ 2-0 victory over Hull City at Elland Road last weekend, offering some hope that they can help fill the attacking gap.
