JUST IN: Leeds United set sight on Raphinha replica as Skysport pundit confirm deal on going… This player will definitely make Leeds fans to forget about Summerville.
Manor Solomon and Largie Ramazani have joined Leeds United in quick succession to strengthen their attacking options, particularly after the departures of Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville left the team lacking in firepower.
Even with Solomon arriving on loan and the addition of Ramazani from Almeria, Leeds may not be finished acquiring attacking talent, as they have a new target in their sights.
Leeds’ Late Interest in Algerian Star
According to the Portuguese newspaper *The Record*, as reported by *Sport Witness*, Leeds are interested in signing Farense star Mohamed El Bachir Belloumi before the transfer window closes on Friday.
Leeds have reportedly sent scouts to Portugal to monitor the Algerian winger’s performances for Farense, with growing speculation that they might try to bring Belloumi to England as another dynamic option on the right wing.
With Wilfried Gnonto still available to manager Daniel Farke, Leeds’ pursuit of Belloumi could potentially halt a move for Manuel Benson. Some reports even suggest that Belloumi, who wears the number 62 for Farense, could become Leeds’ next Raphinha.
What Belloumi Could Bring to Leeds
Football analyst Ben Mattinson has praised Belloumi, comparing him to the Brazilian magician Raphinha and calling the potential deal a “game-changing signing” due to Belloumi’s “insane” skillset.
Last season, the talented Algerian scored seven goals and provided five assists in 35 appearances for Farense. His ability to dribble past defenders and create chances is reminiscent of what Raphinha once brought to Leeds.
Belloumi excels in attacking runs and has a knack for twisting and turning defenders, averaging 2.65 progressive carries per 90 minutes in the Portuguese top-flight last season, showcasing his peak form.
In contrast, after a standout season that helped Burnley win the Championship, Manuel Benson struggled to make an impact in the Premier League, starting only one game under Vincent Kompany. Although Benson contributed more goals than Belloumi last season, Belloumi’s overall play, including his willingness to engage in duels and tackles, could offer Leeds more than the Burnley winger.
Additionally, Belloumi had a higher percentage of shots on target compared to Benson last season, despite taking fewer shots per 90 minutes. If signed, Belloumi could provide strong competition for Gnonto and others, in contrast to Benson, whose value has diminished.
Belloumi is also capable of playing as a number ten, having made three appearances in that role for his former club, MC Oran. His addition to Leeds could prove to be a masterstroke, especially if he lives up to expectations as a player with a similar profile to Raphinha.
