POSITIVE SIGN: Manager reveal Sunderlands Top transfer target to fill Clarke’s gap now suspended training after The Black Cats recent unresisting BID…. Will be a HUGE addup to Regis Le Bris XI.

Sunderland transfer target Tom Cannon was excluded from Steve Cooper’s Leicester City squad for their Carabao Cup match against Tranmere Rovers.

On Monday, reports surfaced indicating that Sunderland had made a £5 million bid for the striker, with other Championship clubs, including Norwich City, Stoke City, and Sheffield United, also showing interest in making late moves to acquire him from the King Power Stadium this week.

The 21-year-old Republic of Ireland international joined Leicester from Everton last year but has since made only three starts and 13 substitute appearances, scoring three goals and providing two assists. Cannon was on the bench for the first game of the season but hasn’t been included in the squad since, and he was left out of Cooper’s selection for the Tranmere match on Tuesday.

When asked about Cannon’s future, Cooper told the Leicester Mercury: “I can give a better answer once we know what the final squad will look like. Tom is a talented young player with a promising future. As managers, our job is not only to field the best team to win games but also to ensure we have the right development plans for younger players.

“We’ll do that with Tom. What that will look like right now, I’m not sure, but he’s definitely involved in today’s work. Until anything changes, that’s how it will be. But I’ll likely have a clearer answer closer to the end of the transfer window.”
