JUST IN: Another BID submitted as Eddie Howe goes all OUT in a Transfer chase to SIGN World Class player who has rejected the Magpies offer Twice Amid Player is Gumaraes close friend…. Will he finally agree to PlAY at St. James Park?
Newcastle United’s Transfer Activity Heats Up
Newcastle United has reportedly submitted a new offer to Barcelona for Brazilian winger Raphinha. This comes as part of the club’s active summer transfer window, which has already seen investments of around £47m in Lewis Hall and Odysseas Vlachodimos, along with the free transfer of Lloyd Kelly.
The Magpies are expected to continue their spending spree, with Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi reportedly close to joining for approximately £60m. Football Insider claims personal terms have been agreed with Guehi, and talks with Crystal Palace are in advanced stages.
In addition to defensive reinforcements, Newcastle is targeting offensive improvements. After missing out on Michael Olise, they’ve turned their attention to Raphinha, who previously impressed in the Premier League with Leeds United. Despite limited starts at Barcelona last season, Raphinha managed 10 goals and 13 assists across all competitions.
With Barcelona potentially needing to offload players to fund new signings like Dani Olmo, Raphinha could be available. Newcastle has reportedly made an improved offer of 45 million euros plus 7 million in add-ons, totaling around £44.5m.
Eddie Howe is said to be “obsessed” with acquiring Raphinha, viewing him as a priority target. While Newcastle hopes Barcelona will accept this offer, especially given their potential acquisition of Olmo, reports suggest the Spanish club may still reject the bid, seeking a higher fee.
As the transfer window nears its close, Newcastle’s pursuit of both Guehi and Raphinha highlights their ambition to strengthen multiple areas of their squad.
