Rotherham United manager Steve Evans, in his second stint with the club, has been busy in the transfer market, bringing in several promising players for their League One campaign. One surprising acquisition is Esapa Osong from Nottingham Forest, a young talent with limited experience in senior football.

While Osong’s signing might have raised eyebrows, given Rotherham’s promotion ambitions, it demonstrates the club’s confidence in his potential. Evans revealed that securing Osong’s services was a three-month process, highlighting the effort invested in this transfer.

Evans expressed gratitude to Nottingham Forest, particularly Nuno Espirito Santo and Ross Wilson, for facilitating the move. He praised Osong’s goal-scoring ability and work ethic, qualities that are highly valued in a striker.

Osong, 19, has shown promise in Forest’s youth ranks, playing a key role in their FA Youth Cup run to the final in 2021/22. Known for his speed, power, and eye for goal, he now faces the challenge of adapting to senior football.

This loan move offers Osong a significant opportunity to prove himself at a higher level. If successful, he could contribute significantly to Rotherham’s promotion push while developing into a more complete player for his parent club, Nottingham Forest.
