JUST IN: Lopetegui informed about Players release clause as Club seem to be interested in allowing Outstanding full back to join West Ham.
West Ham United are reportedly considering strengthening their left-back position, with manager Julen Lopetegui eyeing potential additions. Despite having Emerson Palmieri in the squad, there’s a perceived need for more quality competition and cover in this position.
According to Area Napoli, West Ham officials have met with the agents of Fenerbahce’s Jayden Oosterwolde. The Turkish club is reportedly demanding between £21-25 million for the 23-year-old Dutch defender.
Oosterwolde is described as a pacey, physically robust defender standing at 6’2″, who is well-suited to playing as a left wing-back. His attributes seem to align well with the demands of Premier League football. In the previous Super Lig season, Oosterwolde averaged 1.6 tackles, 1.3 successful aerial duels, and 2.1 clearances per game across 27 appearances.
The potential signing of Oosterwolde could provide West Ham with a younger, more dynamic option at left-back. This move could be part of a larger squad overhaul that Lopetegui and sporting director Tim Steidten are reportedly undertaking this summer.
While striker and center-back positions are also areas of concern for West Ham, the left-back position is seen as crucial for the team’s development. The club has allegedly requested video clips of Oosterwolde in action for Fenerbahce, suggesting serious interest in the player.
