Newcastle United are reportedly intensifying their efforts to acquire Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer, according to The Telegraph. The Magpies are said to be actively pursuing the English forward to bolster their attacking options at St. James’ Park.

Calvert-Lewin had a mixed 2022-23 season at Everton, showing flashes of brilliance but struggling with consistency. He managed eight goals and three assists across 38 appearances in all competitions. In the Premier League, he averaged 2.3 shots, 0.6 key passes, and 0.4 dribbles per game, demonstrating his ability to create chances. However, his pass completion rate of 56.9% indicates room for improvement in his link-up play.

With Calvert-Lewin’s contract set to expire at the end of next season, Newcastle may have an opportunity to secure his services at a reduced price.

The 27-year-old striker is known for his ability to find space in the box and his aerial prowess. While his ball distribution needs work, his Premier League experience could make him a valuable addition to Eddie Howe’s squad. Calvert-Lewin could potentially serve as an understudy to Alexander Isak and add depth to Newcastle’s attacking options.

Given his age and experience, Calvert-Lewin could be entering his prime years, making him an attractive short-term option for Newcastle as they look to build on their recent success and compete in multiple competitions.
